Installing Roof Deck Protection – Deck Armor


When installing the deck protection it is important to know that there are two types of seams a side lap is the horizontal lap and the an end lap is the vertical lap. Using a straight blade, cut the Deck Armor roof leak barrier underlayment. Deck Armor uses a revolutionary breathable technology that helps prevent inside moisture from becoming trapped within the roofing system. It is tear resistant while being stronger than #30 lb. felt. The installer needs to follow all applications to prepare the deck properly. First, clean the deck, remove all debris or protruding fasteners which can cause leaks. Repair or replace any damaged wood or rooted sections prior to installation of premium roof deck protection. The deck must be dry to help prevent buckling of the deck which can result in the deck moving and damage to the primary roof covering. Install the leak barrier where it is needed. Weather Watch or Storm Guard is good choices. This ideally includes eaves, valley, rakes, skylights, dormers, and other vulnerable leak areas. Lay out Deck Armor parallel to the eave and apply. Install without any wrinkles, lay flat, nail flat avoiding stretching during the installation process.

Fasten Deck Armor with plastic cap nails or staples with plastic caps in accordance with appropriate installation instructions for all installations. Fasten the side and end laps 12″ on center. Fasten in the field of the roll with staggered 2 rows of fasteners spaced 24″ on center.

Finally, on standard installation 4/12 or more, overlap the Deck Armor before fastening. Overlap 3″ at side lap. Extend the Deck Armor over the preceding course. Use the line at the top of printed grid to help align the 3″ overlap. Fasten in accordance with building code requirements.
